LinkedIn, the world’s largest professional network, has today released its 2021 LinkedIn Top Australian Startups List revealing the top 25 most sought-after startups to work for by Australian professionals.

The annual ranking highlights startups that are growing and recruiting top talent, informed by the billions of actions taken on LinkedIn by more than 774 million professionals.

This year’s rankings were driven by LinkedIn data across four pillars: employee growth; jobseeker interest; member engagement with the company and its employees; and how well these startups pulled talent from LinkedIn Top Companies list.

Topping the list and making its LinkedIn Top Startups debut is advisory and investment consultancy firm Sayers founded by Luke Sayers who was previously CEO of PwC Australia, followed by HR tech start-up Employment Hero and mattress and furniture company Koala.

Adland also made it onto the list, with Thinkerbell coming in at number 14.

72 per cent of the startups are new entrants which demonstrate the rapid growth in the tech start-up landscape in Australia. This year we have seen a rise in non-tech startups, with 60 per cent of the list coming from industries other than technology.

Speaking on the list, Capucine Yeomans, managing editor at LinkedIn News Australia, said, “we’re witnessing the Great Reshuffle – a moment where everyone is rethinking not just how we work, but why we work.”

“Professionals are asking themselves the question ‘What’s next?’ driven by changing priorities in their work and life. Startups are a great place to turn to achieve the flexibility they are looking for and career growth with the opportunity to contribute to innovation.”

“We are seeing a shift where experienced professionals are now embracing the world of start-ups. Out of 26 listed countries, Australian Top Startups staff collectively had the most experience before joining their current company. Workers at Australia’s 25 Top Startups in 2021 had an average of 9.1 years of employed experience before accepting the role,” she added.
