Professional services firm KPMG has come out on top in LinkedIn’s latest research to find out which companies are listed as the top places people want to work.

According to an exclusive story on news.com.au, PwC, Commonwealth Bank, Coles and Deloitte round out the top five in the Top Attractors line-up, with sadly no media or ad agencies in sight.

Five Australian-owned companies made the top 10, with professional and financial sectors the place to be.

Here’s Australia’s top 25 talent attractors:

1. KPMG

2. PwC

3. Commonwealth Bank

4. Coles

5. Deloitte

6. Westpac

7. Qantas

8. Lion

9. UGL

10. CPB

11. Origin

12. Virgin Australia

13. Downer

14. Telstra

15. Macquarie

16. Bupa

17. REA Group

18. Bank of Queensland

19. Vodafone

20. Medibank

21. LendLease

22. AMP

23. Suncorp

24. Woolworths

25. ANZ

Coinciding with the list, LinkedIn also conducted a survey of more than 6000 workers, including 1000 in Australia, to find out what’s important in a job.

A mere one in nine said they’d cop the cutthroat corporate world in order to get ahead in their career, with more Aussies listing a good working culture as imperative for attracting talent, ahead of a competitive salary.

“Our research reveals that 70 per cent of Aussie workers are willing to take a pay cut to work for a company with a mission they believe in and that shares their personal values,” Jason Laufer, director of talent solutions for LinkedIn Australia and New Zealand told news.com.au.

“Building a strong talent brand driven by purpose and showcasing their culture by sharing content through their employees networks is vital to attract the right talent.”

According to the research, the top five things Aussie professionals take into account when considering a new company are:

  • A competitive salary (63 per cent)
  • Opportunity for growth (53 per cent)
  • Health of the business (48 per cent)
  • Whether the commute is short (39 per cent), and
  • Whether they like their potential boss (37 per cent)
