Kochie Squashes Retirement Rumours, Signs On To Sunrise For Two More Years

Sunrise’s David Kochie has confirmed he isn’t leaving the morning show anytime soon.

Kochie recently celebrated 20 years as the face of Sunrise. After ringing in his platinum anniversary with network Seven, Kochie has announced he has signed on for a further two years with the breakfast show, bringing him into 2024.

However, Kochie has revealed he has discussed leaving with Seven’s big dog James Warburton.

The Australian reported that he said: “After 20 years, I’ve felt I needed more flexibility in my life with my wife Libby and my business interests.

“So when I mentioned leaving to Seven, James very kindly asked me whether we could work together on a plan that I wanted, which also kept my connection to the network and my focus on Sunrise.

“I’m grateful to James and Kerry Stokes that they approached it this way.

“I’ve had long chats with both of them, and they asked me if there is a way to come up with a plan that gives you the flexibility you want and gives you a connection to the network and a continuing focus on Sunrise.

“I love it dearly. So I’m really fortunate to have the best of all worlds.”

So, we can all relax knowing Kochie isn’t going anywhere.
