The final’s not until Sunday morning (3am to be precise) but if it came to amusing ads then the Kiwis would have this Rugby World Cup thing nailed.
Two innovative Kiwi video makers have produced a rather amusing TVC to draw attention to the lack of subtitles on New Zealand TV generally and during the current World Cup; a very real problem for deaf people, the elderly or those with hearing difficulties.
Its aim is to better improve TV captioning in the Shaky Isles and was designed to support a petition currently before the national Parliament.
The ad features a host of World Cup stars from the current tournament with amusing grabs dubbed over the top of them. And yes, the All Blacks’ arch rivals and finals counterparts the Wallabies appear to come in for special lampooning.
The video was produced by Ben Cochrane and Craig Farndale in support of the New Zealand Captioning Working Group.
Due to a lack of legislation, many channels in New Zealand carry no subtitles at all nor are able to access it via set-top boxes.
