Kip Wightman has been announced to replace the fabulous Bob Gallagher.
Gallagher recently left the show after 19 years of working the breakfast slot – so hopefully is now getting some sleep.
Meanwhile, Wightman departed Nova last year after a fifteen-year run and now it makes sense!
Wightman will be joining Robin and Terry for a vibrant new show, Robin, Terry & Kip.
Born and bred in Brisbane and a Brisbanite through and through, Wightman is well known to listeners locally.
Prior to joining KIIS 97.3, he was part of the breakfast show on NOVA 106.9 Brisbane for 15 years. With an extensive radio career, Wightman has enjoyed also enjoyed hosting roles in radio in Perth and Sydney and spent time living and working in the United States on the radio in Boston.
ARN’s chief content officer, Duncan Campbell said: “Brisbane audiences love Kip, and he loves Brisbane; it’s a perfect combination.
“He brings great energy and enthusiasm, perfect for starting the day, and we are excited that he will be part of the new energised breakfast show on KIIS 97.3.”
Of joining KIIS 97.3, Kip Wightman said: “I’m stoked to be working with Robin and Terry, I’ve been loving my time away from radio but the opportunity to work with these two was too good to pass up, even if I have to start waking up before the sun again!
“I haven’t looked forward to getting into the studio like this in years! Robin and Terry are such a great mix of funny and relatable, 2022 is going to be epic!”
Robin Bailey said: “New Year, new show and a new guy to hang out with on-air, it is the start to a perfect year. I’m pretty sure this year is going to be the best so far with lots of fun, surprises and things you will never forget.
“I can’t wait to get back behind the mic as I know everyone is just going to love Kip!”
Terry Hansen added: “I’ve watched Kip’s work from afar for many, many years and think he’s a great brekky radio guy. I can’t say more without revealing my man crush! I’m delighted he’s on our team now.”
