Special’s “Summer Never Sleeps” campaign for Kathmandu has been picked as one of Vimeo’s ‘Best of Staff Picks’ selection for 2022.
Vimeo’s list features 10 branded and unbranded films each. Special said the listing was a “huge honour” and “badge of recognition” for both companies.
The award had been “warmly” welcomed by the film’s director, Scoundrel’s Daniel Warwick, as the best acknowledgement he’s ever received as it ranks alongside previous winners like Apple, Burberry, Nike and Libresse for its campaign, Womb Stories.
The “Summer Never Sleeps” campaign highlighted summer as a time for “spontaneity” and followed a group of friends on a summer adventure from night to day, and into night again.
The film built on Kathmandu’s brand platform – “We’re Out There”– inspiring a new generation to get outside. It also tied into Kathmandu’s purpose to improve the wellbeing of the world through the outdoors.
“The Summer Never Sleeps campaign has attracted a huge amount of attention globally, and has been a huge success for Kathmandu. To be handpicked from the millions of films created each year says a lot about how unique, standout and beautifully crafted the idea is. Oh and a killer soundtrack helps,” said Special CEO and CCO, Tony Bradbourne.
Special ECD, Lisa Fedyszyn said, “Vimeo staff said they want to high-five the Kathmandu marketing team, and they should. The team has always been passionate and hungry to create work that is entertaining, unique and ‘Out There,’ that displays the transformative nature of the outdoors.”
