Jackie O has been featured as the cover star in T Australia: The New York Times Style Magazine’s ‘Influence’ issue, which celebrates those who are shaping culture and leaving their mark on the world.
With more than 1.5 million Australians tuning in each week, Jackie O, co-founder of the company Besties and ‘Her Best Life’ podcast, reflects on a transformative year.
“[It’s] like shedding that final skin. I’ve definitely had a lot of growth in that time,” she said.
From industry leaders to change makers, the ‘Influence’ issue examines how influence extends beyond authority, shaping culture, art and ideas, shifting perspectives, igniting movements and leaving indelible marks on our lives.
Discussing her sobriety journey, Jackie O shared that sobriety is fragile but she’d found unexpected relief when Ozempic rumours shifted focus from her recovery.
“[They say] the first year is the hardest… when I was reading comments that [my weight loss] was [due to the drug] Ozempic, I was quite relieved that that was the narrative and that’s what people were focused on,” she said.
She unpacks her people-pleasing tendencies and embracing self-acceptance, “realising that I didn’t treat myself very kindly or didn’t think I was worth a lot,” she said. Jackie O also reveals a fresh approach to dating and, for the first time, feels confident about her future direction beyond radio. “I know exactly where I’m headed”.
“This issue celebrates the true power of influence; authentic, diverse, and ever-evolving. From independent designers redefining Australian menswear to startups turning waste into billion-dollar opportunities, the people driving these cultural shifts aren’t just following trends; they’re shaping the future. Meanwhile the art world’s compass is shifting, with new cultural hubs bringing fresh perspectives that challenge traditional boundaries,” Katarina Kroslakova, publisher and editor in chief said.
“At the heart of this shift is Jackie O, who graces our annual Influence issue. Thriving in today’s media landscape is no easy feat, yet she continues to prove she has the smarts, humour, empathy, longevity and the passion to sustain her incredible career. Jackie O is a true role model for women of all ages, not just for her flawless media path, but for the powerful way she’s embraced this next chapter of her life, inspiring others with her honesty, self-awareness and strength,” Kroslakova added.
This issue also explores how diverse influences are reshaping Australian culture, from menswear to sustainability. Independent designers are pushing Australian menswear beyond traditional norms, while startups turn waste into new opportunities, showcasing how sustainability and profitability can go hand-in-hand.
It also spotlights celebrity chef Rick Stein, and examines how his career has been shaped by people, produce, and values.
Additionally, the issue looks at the art world’s evolving landscape, with new cultural hubs emerging in the Gulf and Azerbaijan.
