[INVNT GROUP] joined forces with TEDxSydney to bring their flagship TEDxSydney event – and its 2020 theme of REAL – to life in an online format for over 3,000 registered attendees on Friday, 6 November.

As the event’s official experiential agency, INVNT, part of [INVNT GROUP] supported the four main stage sessions, which were broadcast live from a studio in Sydney. They provided a mix of compelling talks, performances and films from talent including electronic trio Mansionair, Atlassian’s Work Futurist, Dominic Price, indigenous vocalist Emma Donovan, and Afghan-Australian Former Biker, Mahmood Fazal.

New this year, TEDxSydney served up 20+ Discovery Sessions throughout the day, which were managed and produced by INVNT. They provided attendees with opportunities to dive deeper into an idea, learn something new, or get up and move: think yoga and coffee demos, plus advice-led sessions on topics like how to pitch to venture capitalists or design a more sustainable future.

Discovery Session highlights included ESCARGOT, a fly-on-the-wall documentary-style slow motion film produced by Director P3E of branded content studio, HEVĒ, which is also part of [INVNT GROUP]. In a unique juxtaposition of how the creative mind works, the film demonstrated how a collection of professional skateboarders who all work in creative roles use the city of Sydney to work for them, and not the other way around.

The 2020 theme of REAL. REAL Ideas. REAL Change. The REAL Thing was woven throughout the event, with the aim of starting large-scale conversations around timely topics including the need to get REAL about environmental and economic sustainability, UnREAL developments in technology and science, and being REAL about personal truths and vulnerabilities.

Remo Giuffré, Founder and Licensee, TEDxSydney said: “Having worked together on our 2018 and 2019 events, we knew the talented and versatile [INVNT GROUP] team would be able to support us in pivoting our more than 5,000 attendee in-person TEDxSydney event to a unique and memorable online experience.

“It was incredibly important we didn’t lose any of the elements TEDxSydney is known for during this process – it’s a place where people come to hear leading and inspirational ideas, share their own thoughts, and connect with likeminded people. [INVNT GROUP] played an integral role in enabling us to achieve a seamless transition, while retaining our core identity and values.”

Laura Roberts, Managing Director, [INVNT GROUP] APAC added: “We were all set to design and produce TEDxSydney as an in-person event this year, and while COVID-19 had other plans, we’re so pleased to have been able to successfully support Remo and the team in curating and managing an online experience that lived up to TEDxSydney’s status as an award-winning, gold standard event on the global TEDx stage.”
