Instagram has announced it will be trialling a slew of new features to support social causes.
The app’s new feature aims to make it easier for users to discover and support social causes directly through hashtags.
Basically, now when you search for certain hashtags that are synonymous with certain social movements, like Black Lives Matter or Women’s Rights, for instance, there will now be a slew of options available for you to do support these causes.
Now, after you type in a hashtag like #blacklivesmatter you can select, ‘support’ to learn more about the movement.
There’s also a ‘Create a fundraiser’ option that allows you to start raising money on behalf of a cause and even a ‘Spread the word’ option that lets you share the hashtag page with friends.
Starting today we’re testing out a new way for people to learn more about social movements and to get the word out.https://t.co/c3jIeIg8u8 pic.twitter.com/42g1vVOQ2u
