Initiative’s Ian Smith Joins News Corp In Senior Trading Role

News Corp Australia has announced the appointment of Ian Smith as general manager of trading for national sales.

Smith was formerly head of partnerships at global media agency Initiative in Sydney. He has also held roles at Initiative’s sister agency, Ensemble, as well as TV networks Nine and Ten, during his 17-year career.

In his new role, Smith will focus on managing trading operations for both consortium and key accounts across News Corp’s print and digital assets.

Lou Barrett, executive general manager of network sales at News Corp Australia, said Smith joins the team with such a strong track record of success and a wealth of experience in managing strategic partnerships, large accounts and key relationships.

“With a number of creative print and digital projects in the pipeline, I look forward to working with Ian to maximise our innovative client solutions,” she said.

Commenting on his new role, Smith said: “I’m excited to join the News Corp family and work alongside such a talented team.

“News Corp continues to be at the forefront of innovation and technology, ensuring the business can navigate the ever-changing media landscape. I look forward to working with our clients and agencies as we evolve and focus on the future.”
