Unsigned Australian bands can now have their music heard by anyone, anywhere in Australia as part of a new digital station added to Australian Radio Network’s (ARN) iHeartRadio platform.
Partnering with Unsigned Bands Australia, an organisation that provides a free platform for artists and bands to showcase and promote their music, videos, photos, and gigs, the new iHeartRadio station, Unsigned Bands, will give these up and coming artists the chance to have their music heard by an even wider audience.
Of the new station, ARN’s COO and head of iHeartRadio Geraint Davies said: “A strong and vibrant Australian music industry is important to ARN, and developing talent that is competitive on the world stage needs to start at the grass roots level. I’m excited that iHeartRadio is a platform to give unsigned bands and artists the opportunity to have their music heard by a much wider audience.”
Lisa Nowosad, founder of Unsigned Bands Australia, said the new iHeartRadio station is a great initiative to improve opportunities and promotion for local artists and bands.
“I want to help enrich our local music culture by giving artists and bands from all genres of music the best chance to reach out to new and existing audiences. This iHeartRadio station – Unsigned Bands – is a great new opportunity for bands and artists to get their music out to audiences. There are so many ridiculously talented bands and artists working away, I want to be able to assist them to be recognised and, of course, put on great live music events through the Unsigned Bands Australia platform.”
Unsigned Bands Australia already offers a range of opportunities for bands and artists signed up to www.unsignedbands.com.au including a weekly Unsigned Session at The Sly Fox in Enmore, and Battle of the Bands Australia Festival which offers a $10,000 band grant and recording sessions.
The iHeartRadio mobile app is available for download in the iTunes and Google Play app stores.
