[B&T warns this article may not be suitable for the squeamish.] The NBA playoffs (that’s basketball, for the novices) are happening right now in the US; however, it appears it’s NOT the action out on the court that’s grabbing the headlines.
Instead, it’s a series of ads airing during games for the reality TV show Dr. Pimple Popper that’s sent fans into an unpleasant frenzy.
For those lucky enough to be unfamiliar with the premise of the program, Dr. Pimple Popper follows dermatologist Dr. Sandra Lee as she treats patients with unusual cases of facial and skin disorders and often sees her popping large pimples on camera.
The ads are promoting the ninth series of the program called “Cyst Over Troubled Water” that airs in the US from April 19.

Basketball fans soon took to social media to rage that games had been interrupted by the confronting commercials.
“These Dr Pimple Popper ads are going to make me boycott the NBA playoffs,” penned one.
Another added: “I pray that whoever ok’d these Dr. Pimple Popper commercials rots forever in the blood oceans of hell.”
“I will sue you for showing that Dr. Pimple Popper commercial while I was eating!” tweeted one fan, while another added, “Can we stop showing the Dr Pimple Popper commercial please. I’m going to throw up.”

While some fans even managed to see the funny side.
“The unified rage against Dr. Pimple Popper is immensely entertaining,” tweeted one viewer, while another joked, “It’s wild that Dr. Pimple Popper got more playing time than Thomas Bryant tonight.”
