It’s a sad end of an era – the last Australian built Commodore has rolled off the production lines and Holden has just released the first images of it.
Admittedly, the only people that appear to still drive Commodores are taxi drivers and the police, and from 2018 the Commodore will be a rebadged model from GM in the US.
In a media statement, Holden’s director of communications, Sean Poppitt, sang the praises of the tech attributes of the new 2017 model, however, appeared to sing the praises of the 2018 model even more.
It’s understood the last Ford Falcon that rolled of the Australian production line sold out due to the nostalgia factor.
“Commodore has always stood for leading driving dynamics, exceptional customer value and a striking road presence, and the 2017 Commodore is a perfect example of that,” said Poppitt.
“Not only have we added some great styling enhancements like black accents and some stunning new colours, we’ve also dialled up the technology offering with head-up display and satellite navigation available on SV6 models.”
The media release concluded that the car maker expected huge demand for the final Australian version and urged potential buyers to order the car from their local dealership “subject to availability”.
