Fourth Wall has been appointed as production partner for the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade, following a competitive pitch process.
The appointment lands as Mardi Gras CEO Jesse Matheson shapes his vision for the organisation’s next chapter, with the 50th anniversary of the parade on the horizon.
He said: “As we build towards our 50th anniversary, we have a unique opportunity to honour the Parade’s rich history while looking boldly to its future. Fourth Wall’s experience delivering world-class cultural events, combined with their deep connection to Mardi Gras, makes them the ideal partner to help shape the next chapter of one of Australia’s most iconic celebrations.”
The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade has been running since 1978 and is one of the most recognised LGBTQIA+ events in the world. The 50th anniversary is a milestone the organisation has been building toward.
For Fourth Wall, the win adds a culturally significant live event to a portfolio that spans complex and culturally significant projects, creative brand experiences and televised events across the globe.
Fourth Wall founder Jeremy Garling said, “We are incredibly proud to build on our partnership with Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, which has spanned more than 15 years and many of its signature events. To now be entrusted with delivering the Parade – the centrepiece of Mardi Gras and one of Australia’s most iconic cultural celebrations – is both a privilege and an exciting milestone for our team.”
Client services director, Victoria Brennan said “being able to collaborate with Jesse and the team on bringing their new strategic vision to life is exactly the sort of work we love at Fourth Wall. Getting to help build that vision out is the kind of brief we get out of bed for.”
The scope of the engagement covers the strategic planning, creative production and operational delivery of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade, with the 50th anniversary parade as the centrepiece.
