Football fans who rely on free-to-air TV for their fix need not worry about the end of the 2018 FIFA World Cup for too long, with the English Premier League returning next month.

Hosted by The World Game’s Lucy Zelić, SBS’s exclusive free-to-air Premier League coverage of one match per week will also feature SBS chief football analyst Craig Foster and weekly expert guests.

SBS director of sport Ken Shipp said: “SBS is thrilled to continue bringing the best international football live to all Australians for free.

“We have a very proud 30-year history of broadcasting the world game to the country, and we are confident football fans will continue to turn to SBS for the trusted analysis and coverage we are known for.

“The Premier League is one of the most highly-regarded sporting leagues in the world, and one which speaks to SBS’s charter through its representation of the beautiful game’s ability to unite diverse communities both here in Australia and around the globe, as we have seen throughout the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia.”

SBS will also live stream every Premier League match it shows on TV screens free through The World Game app.

In addition, SBS’s weekly global football highlights program, The World Game, will return to Monday nights from August 13 on TV and online.
