The Boxing Day Test held at Australia’s home of sport, the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), is an icon of the Australian summer and this year will not only herald the start of holiday relaxation, but signify the first major event in Melbourne following months of lockdown.

Thanks to a new partnership with Dettol, fans will be well protected as crowds return to the ‘G.

A leader in hygiene and germ protection, Dettol will serve as the Official Hygiene Partner of the MCG in a two-year agreement beginning from the upcoming Boxing Day Test, starting on December 26, the first major sporting event with crowds to be held at the Ground since the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Final on March 8.

More than 275 Dettol Instant Hand Sanitisation Stations have been installed throughout the stadium to ensure players, staff and fans, as well as those visiting the Australian Sports Museum, can easily access the trusted germ protection of Dettol and feel confident as they return to the venue.

The partnership headlines the numerous protocols in place for the return of crowds to the MCG.

Melbourne Cricket Club, manager of the MCG, CEO Stuart Fox said the Club is pleased to be working with Dettol to offer its trusted germ protection to visitors at the Boxing Day Test and beyond.

“Like the MCG, Dettol is a trusted institution in Australia thanks to their 80-year heritage, so it is particularly fitting that we can join forces to help support the return of crowds and events to the stadium,” he said.

“The wellbeing of all visitors is our number one priority and we hope that through this partnership and protective initiatives, fans will feel secure and confident to return to MCG, whether it is for the cricket, the footy or to visit the Australian Sports Museum.”

David Rankine, General Manager of RB Health ANZ said, “Our priority is to make germ protection as accessible and easy as possible both in and outside the home. There’s no better way to get people back out and enjoying one of the nation’s most popular pastimes – sport – than by partnering with the iconic MCG and encouraging everyone to Bat. Ball. Dettol!”

The MCC has been working closely with Cricket Australia and the Victorian Government on all planning for the Boxing Day Test. The safety of members, officials, players and fans remains the number one priority and prevailing conditions will guide implementation of the endorsed COVIDSafe plan.
