Coombs Marr is widely regarded as one of Australia’s most accomplished comedians. She first took to the stage at just 15 and has since built an international career spanning stand-up, theatre and television, earning critical acclaim and multiple awards along the way.
Nancy Hromin, co-founder of Irresistible Magazine and a director of The Misfits Media Company, said Coombs Marr’s ability to move effortlessly between comedy, performance and screen made her the perfect host for the festival’s new Film & Screen track.
“Zoë brings a brilliant mix of intelligence, curiosity and humour to everything she does,” Hromin said. “She understands both the craft of storytelling and the cultural conversations shaping screen today, which makes her the perfect person to guide this new track.”
Coombs Marr is also the creator, writer and host of Queerstralia, the ABC documentary series uncovering the untold LGBTQIA+ history of Australia. The series won Best History Program at the World Congress of Science & Factual Producers and the Australian Editors Guild Award for Best Editing in Non-Fiction TV, while also earning nominations at MIPCOM Cannes and the 2024 AACTA Awards.
