A new wave of ultra-short, high-impact narrative content is rapidly reshaping the global entertainment landscape, and it is heading straight for the spotlight at Cairns Crocodiles, Presented by Pinterest, 2026.
As part of the festival’s new Film & Screen track, Timothy Oh, general manager international at COL Group Co, a leading Chinese digital cultural content company, has been unveiled as one of the program’s standout speakers. Oh will unpack the explosive rise of microdramas, a content format predicted to rival, and potentially surpass, the Hollywood box office.
His session will explore why this fast-growing form is attracting major investment, top-tier creative talent, and serious attention from brands and filmmakers alike.
“People scroll vertically, think vertically, and feel stories in seconds now. Micro-drama reflects that reality,” Oh said.
“For the first time, I’m excited to bring this conversation to Cairns Crocodiles and sit with advertisers and creatives to explore how brands can be part of this new storytelling language, not as an interruption, but as part of the experience.”
Based in Singapore, Oh leads COL Group’s global push across microdramas, original IP and digital content distribution, driving international growth through licensing, brand partnerships, PR and strategic alliances.
Under his leadership, Singapore has become COL’s international hub and a launchpad for the company’s global ambitions, including the international expansion of Chinese IP such as the Luo Xiao Hei franchise.

His career includes senior roles at Sony Pictures, Microgaming and LiveScore Group, where he oversaw brand expansion and business growth across the Asia-Pacific region.
“Oh’s creative roots run deep,” Nancy Hromin, co-founder of Irresistible Magazine and a director of The Misfits Media Company, said.
“From producing documentaries for Discovery and National Geographic, to shaping pop culture narratives as a celebrity publicist for artists, Tim’s insight into microdramas is genuinely eye-opening, and audiences will walk away with a clear understanding of where storytelling, technology and opportunity are heading next.”
Now at COL Group, Oh is at the forefront of globalising Asian storytelling, building bridges between creators, platforms and audiences worldwide.
His session at Cairns Crocodiles is set to offer timely insight into where film, content and audience behaviour are heading next, and why microdramas are becoming impossible to ignore.
Cairns Crocodiles 2026 runs from May 12 to 14, with the new Film & Screen track running concurrently on day two of the festival, Wednesday 13th February.
