Casefile Takes First Place In Triton Top Podcast Ranker

Audioboom’s Casefile True Crime program has claimed top spot on Triton Digital’s Australian podcast ranker for November 2021.

The podcast, which first aired in 2016, scored 961,420 monthly listeners and a whopping 2,344,664  monthly downloads, soundly beating runner-up (and the previous month’s winner) Hamish & Andy, which recorded 902,481 monthly listeners and 1,920,912 monthly downloads.

Casefile is part of the broader iHeartPodcast Network, which recorded the most overall monthly listeners of 3,191,97, beating rival network, LiSTNR.

iHeartPodcast also claimed third place with Life Uncut with Brittany Hockley and Laura Byrne, and seventh place with Stuff You Should Know.

The Kyle & Jackie O Show, also part of iHeartPodcast, was the country’s most popular radio catch-up podcast in November, coming in fifth place with 444,258 monthly listeners and a sizeable 2,113,289 monthly downloads.

“It’s been an incredible year for ARN’s iHeartPodcast Network as we’ve experienced significant content and commercial growth,” said ARN’s head of digital audio, Corey Layton.

“Achieving the position of Australia’s #1 Podcast Network for the 19th consecutive ranker is an outstanding achievement and is testament to the hard work of our amazing team and partners.

“Over the next year, we look forward to reaching even more Australians, whilst also delivering unique and innovative opportunities for our commercial partners across our platforms.”

While it didn’t score the top spot, SCA’s LiSTNR, had more programs listed in the top 50 than any other publisher, including Hamish & Andy, The Howie Games, The Briefing, The Scorecard with Liam Flanagan, and The National Briefing.

“SCA creates more original digital audio content than any other company in Australia and these results show that audiences are listening to premium, original Aussie content across a number of genres,” said SCA chief content officer, Dave Cameron.

“As Australia’s biggest audio content creator we anticipate large increases in listening over the summer holiday period as people relax and use audio as their companion. It’s a great time to discover new content this summer on LiSTNR anywhere, anytime.”
