AUSSIES and Founders of Canvas, Melanie Perkins and Cliff Obrecht (main photo) have signed onto The Giving Pledge – promising to give at least half their huge fortune away.
The Giving Pledge was founded by Bill Gates, Melinda Gates and Warren Buffet – it’s a promise signed by the worlds richest people to dedicate the majority of their money to deserving causes.
Perkins and Obrecht have now joined the pledge and said on it’s website: “We’ve long had a 2-step plan for Canva: Step 1. To build one of the world’s most valuable companies, and Step 2. To do the most good we can do.
“We have this wildly optimistic belief that there is enough money, goodwill, and good intentions in the world to solve most of the world’s problems.
“We feel like it’s not just a massive opportunity, but an important responsibility and we want to spend our lifetime working towards that.”
Perkins and Obrecht made their fortune by founding graphic design platform Canva aka if you have a fun resume you’ve properly used Canva.
Canva, of course, is also known as being an incredibly flexible place to work. It announced earlier this year that workers were only expected to come in a few times a year.
The Sydney Morning Herald reported that the couple has a 30 per cent stake in Canva and that the company is valued at over 16 billion.
So they will have plenty to give away.
