Locally, Dr Karl holds both the esteemed “Order of Australia” (2006) and the even cooler “Australia’s Father of the Year” (2003). On a global scale, some of his accolades include the prestigious Ig Nobel prize he received in 2022 for his ground-breaking research into “Belly Button Lint and why it is almost always blue”.
