Pitch2Punch is the marketing and media industry’s biggest corporate challenge, taking 20 plucky pugilists on an incredible fitness journey from zero to hero in just 11 weeks. Proudly supporting beyondblue, Pitch2Punch has raised in excess of $30,000 to date for beyondblue, while raising awareness of the issues of anxiety and depression to whole new audience.
Creator and Producer of Pitch2Punch Gareth Eden-Styche said: “Not only is Pitch2Punch an incredible personal achievement, but it raises awareness of the issues of anxiety and depression that no doubt affect our industry, as they do every industry. But the real stars are our industry champions, putting in the hours to learn new skills, focus the mind, tone-up and throw some punches at their industry peers!”
The media world is an industry built on healthy competition. Is Pitch2Punch the pinnacle of that competitive set? Gareth says no. “Pitch2Punch is not just about the bout, but the journey. Our gala night on 14th August is a glitzy, celebratory affair. But every competitor is already a hero, having completed a positively life-changing process before any punches are thrown. We’re not about knockouts, wins or loses, this is about doing something unimaginable, training hard, getting fit and healthy and stepping into that ring on fight night in the best mental and physical shape imaginable. It’s an incredible, once in a lifetime experience for our competitors, supporters and sponsors.”
Pitch2Punch is an 11 week boxing experience, culminating in a black tie, gala night at the Wentworth Sofitel on the 14th August in front of 500 roaring supporters. It is open to all marketing and media industry employees of all ages, shapes and sizes. Creative director or account exec, marketing manager or CEO.
Pitch2Punch 2013 Champion Michael Jilwan from UM says of his Pitch2Punch experience: “When those doors open and you step out into a jam-packed room with all your friends, family and colleagues chanting and roaring for you in support, an energy consumes your whole body, the sheer electricity and adrenaline which overwhelms you will be the most incredible feeling you will experience in your life. Pitch2punch was a life changing event. I loved every single second of from the early starts, the sore muscles to the friendships you make.”
