Burger King (sadly, only in the US) is giving people who’ve been recently fired from their jobs a free Whopper burger to ease their unemployment pain.
The burger chain has unveiled its new “Whopper Severance” deal, in which you can get a free Burger King gift card in exchange for a public acknowledgement that you were just fired from your job.
All the newly made unemployed have to do is go to their LinkedIn and post the message: “I got fired. I want a free Whopper. #WhopperSeverance” and Burger King will send you a free burger voucher.
How it will actually validate people who may simply post the slogan to cheat their way to a free Whopper isn’t entirely clear. Or moderate people who got sacked for serious breaches such as sexual harassment or theft.
Burger King’s head of marketing, Fernando Machado, said of the promotion: “We are always looking for ideas which showcase the fact that we flame-grill our Whopper sandwich.
“This is an idea that basically showcases the love people have for the Whopper sandwich. We know getting fired sucks, but getting a free Whopper doesn’t.”
