“Blue Waffle?” Kellogg’s Inadvertently Names Latest Product After An STI

[B&T warns this article contains content of a sexual nature that some readers may find offensive.] It appears Kellogg’s hasn’t done too much research into the launch of its brand new frozen waffles range after social media quickly pointed out that  the product had the same name as a slang term for a sexually transmitted infection (STI).

Kellogg’s has just unveiled the waffle range in the US and UK markets that include a pink version called Unicorn Cotton Candy Waffles and Mermaid Blue Raspberry Waffles.

All harmless enough, it would appear.

Not so says internet wags who’ve revealed that “waffle” is actually slang for vagina and “blue waffle” means a vagina with an STI.

According to the venerable Medical News Today a “blue waffle” is a “fictional sexually transmitted disease that is said only to affect females. ‘Waffle’ is a slang term for vagina, and blue refers to one of the imaginary symptoms of this fake condition.”

It adds: “However, this sexually transmitted disease (STD) is nothing more than a rumour started on the internet. There is no medical evidence that it exists.

“According to online sources, blue waffle disease is a condition that can disfigure a person’s vulva and vaginal area and turn it blue. While there are many real and life-changing STDs, none of them turn the vulva blue.

“Blue waffle disease does not exist. It is a fake STD that originated from online rumors. Pictures showing a woman’s vulva that appears blue and displays scabs or lesions usually accompany these rumors,” Medical News Today reported.

Not that it’s stopped social media jesters calling out Kellogg’s and its unfortunately named frozen waffle line.

One Twitter poster wrote: “I’ve been informed that this is a thing that exists and I have… so many questions.”

Another added: “Has nobody on the Kellogg’s team ever been on the internet?”

“If you are not Kellogg’s then for the love of everything good do not Google blue waffle,” said another.

While another person tweeted: “Does Kellogg’s not have a single Millennial or was it one troll who was like ‘hey we should make a blue waffle!’ and no one knew better?”
