Nike has chosen chaos and launched a new campaign that is getting roasted online for ignoring all spelling rules.
It all kicked off when Nike Basketball’s Twitter posted a now-infamous video, with a reel pointing out a bunch of words you can’t spell without K – which you can spell without K.
Get it? no, well no one else did either.
Everyone was perplexed; now, the reason it made this K reference isn’t actually because Nike is spelt with a K but rather because of a more extensive campaign, they are doing where they are celebrating the career of US basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski.
The tweets came after Kryzewki’s team Duke lost to North Carolina marking the coach’s last game.
Assumedly to honour the coach Nike then posted a video on Twitter with gems like, “You can’t spell brotherhood without K, you can’t spell legacy without K!”
Now, besides the obvious which is that you can, it didn’t quite land with the general public. It was basically roasted for being nonsensical.
Nike’s marketing team had about 9 months to plan a Coach K retirement campaign, and it landed on, “Let’s do like a buncha words without a K and be like, ya need a K to spell ‘em and stuff. Get it?!” https://t.co/8ybhS3mM3h

Particularly when you include the fact Krzyzewski coached Duke – which is spelt with a K, but wasn’t mentioned. – oh, sweet irony!
A missed opportunity right?

One Twitter user summarised it with this tweet.

Ironically a relevant word that you really CAN’T spell without K is Duke.

Usually, Nike can do no wrong with their campaigns, but this one just didn’t land! Or, as Nike would say, you can’t spell fail without K.
