Sustainable soap brand Single Use Ain’t Sexy has been greeted with a huge influx of support after raising over half a million dollars in funding via a crowdfunding campaign.
The brand has launched itself into the ‘green economy’ by calling on the Australian public to financially back them and their mission to get Aussies to use less plastic.
Their simple slogan ‘Don’t be a tosser’ calls for Aussies to embrace a more sustainable lifestyle.
In less than two weeks on the Crowdfund platform, the sustainable brand has had 700,000 pledged already and plans to use the funds to push their eco-friendly product – Australia’s first dissolving hand soap tablet.
Ad man and Gruen Transfer panellist Russel Howcroft is one of the brand’s key advisers, and founder Josh Howards also has a background in media and advertising.
The brand has also been utilising social media to establish itself appearing on the social media accounts of MasterChef judge Melissa Leong, Gold Logie winner Chrissie Swan, Sunrise presenter Edwina Bartholomew, journalist Melissa Doyle and The Block judge Darren Palmer.
“With hand washing and single-use plastics dominating our lives for much of the past year, we launched an equity crowdfunding campaign last week to empower Aussies to own a piece of our environmental revolution,” Howard said.
“Within the first 24 hours, we saw over $170,000 registered, which then doubled and tripled over the following days. By day five, we’d cracked well over half a million dollars, and by the end of the first week, we had $700,000 pledged.
“With investors of all ages and from all states pledging to be involved, this monumental growth
really proves how passionate so many Aussies are about owning a part of our plastic-free
future.”
