She made headlines last year after leaving channel nine‘s The Today Show because of unequal pay – and became a champion for women all over Australia. Lisa Wilkinson is a media powerhouse and an inspiration to all young women starting out in the media industry. She’s also closing Changing the Ratio.

We recommend grabbing your tickets now before they inevitably sell out now that one of our keynote speakers is Lisa! Wilkinson! Can you tell we’re excited?

The name enough should be a deciding factor on whether to attend, but in case you’ve been living under a rock for the past two decades, heres some background info.

Late last year, Wilkinson abruptly quit Nine Network’s morning TV show, the Today Show, after battling with management for months over contract negotiations and the pay differences between her and co-host Karl Stefanovic – a $200,000 gap.

It only took 45 minutes before she was offered a position at Channel 10‘s evening show, The Project. But was anyone really surprised she was snatched up so fast? No.

Especially after research showed she was more popular with audiences than Stefanovic – but still getting paid less.

Wilkinson was on the Today Show for 10 years after co-hosting Seven’s Weekend Sunrise, where she was credited with attracting a new wave of viewers through her relaxed and informative presentation style. And she just keeps getting more impressive.

At age 21, Wilkinson was named the youngest ever editor of womens magazine Dolly, catapulting her career and leading to a role as editor of Cleo Magazine – and later, Cleo’s International Editor-in-Chief, running editions in New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. Over the course of a decade, Wilkinson used her unrivalled magazine skills to guide Cleo to the position of the number one selling women’s lifestyle magazine per capita in the world.

She was named among 2013’s 40 Most Inspiring Women Over 40 in Australia by Prevention Magazine, and did we mention she’s also currently the editor of the Huffington Post Australia?

This is your closing keynote speaker, people!

Wilkinson joins reugee-turned-lawyer Deng Thiak Adut for this year’s Changing the Ratio, alongside a stellar lineup of other speakers. The event will also include thought-provoking industry panel discussions, and will supply attendees with things to do right now that they can take back to their own organisation to drive diversity and inclusion.

Sound good? Grab early-bird tickets here while they last!

Changing the Ratio will be held on May 28 in Sydney – for all the other deets, head to the website. See you there!
