A slip of the tongue by the ABC’s The World host, Beverley O’Connor, elevated Aussie bottle shop Dan Murphy to one of the highest trending topics on Twitter.
Late on Wednesday night, Victorian Premier Dan Andrews announced an emergency press conference, which O’Connor flagged with viewers.
As she did so, however, she made a hilarious gaffe by mixing up Andrews with bottle shop Dan Murphy’s.
I hope everyone watched Dan Murphy's press conference.

“We’ll be crossing to a press conference with Dan Murphy — uh, Dan Andrews soon”, she said.
O’Connor later tweeted that she was “not on the beers tonight I promise”.

Girish Sawlani, producer of The World, pointed to the instance as one “of the many reasons why I enjoy producing this show. #getonthebeers”.
While Dan Murphy’s even got in on the fun.
“Glad to be on your mind Beverley,” the bottle shop’s Twitter account said, to which O’Connor responded: “And you are it seems always on ours.”
Other social media users saw the gaffe as a welcome break from the news.
“Bev, if there was ever a time we would forgive you for something like that its now, we needed the laugh,” one user said.
“The grace and professionalism you demonstrated in seamlessly moving forward, with a wonderful smile, was a highlight in an otherwise emotion charged night – well done!” another user tweeted.
