In extremely important news, B&T is here to inform you that ABC’s Q&A is no more… it’s now Q+A.
Less keen-eyed readers might not be able to spot the difference, but there are plenty of irate loyal Q&A – sorry – Q+A viewers who have.
After twelve years, ABC has changed the branding of its flagship show, replacing the elegant ampersand (&) with a drab plus symbol (+).
As first picked up by Pedestrian, the show’s Facebook page added the new Q+A logo on January 20 this year and if you don’t follow the page you probably would not have noticed, fans of the show are certainly unimpressed with the new-look logo.
One Facebook user wrote: “Very bad decision. Viewers watch Q&A. Why throw out the exceptional brand equity by changing the & to a +. I see what they’re trying to do, but it’s a bad move in my professional opinion.”
Another said: “Just, NO. Hate it, and hate the plus symbol used for ‘and’. Much prefer the ampersand.
Love the show, though, and looking forward to seeing how Hamish goes […].”
One likened it to the Red Cross symbol: “Bit like the Red Cross logo but an improvement on the Q&A ‘Anarchy’ logo.”
Another simply said: “Please reconsider this design.”
Journalist Hamish Macdonald took over the role of Q+A host earlier this year, replacing founding presenter Tony Jones.
