The Australian Association of National Advertisers (AANA) has brought forward the launch of its review of the Environmental Claims Code from 2023 to 22 November of this year.
The industry body for advertisers announced the change last night at its AANA Taking Flight event, as well as revealing the speakers for its flagship marketing conference, RESET.
“There is no doubt the community and regulators are looking more closely at environmental claims. The ground in shifting and it is time to review our Code to make sure it reflects community standards and international best practice,” said CEO Josh Faulks (lead image), who joined the body in August.
The review is designed to ensure that advertisers apply rigorous standards when making environmental claims and to boost consumer trust about claims of environmental benefits appearing in advertising.
Former Manchester United and England soccer player, Rio Ferdinand, is due to headline AANA’s RESET event due to take place on March 24 next year.
“After a three-year hiatus, we are excited to welcome international speakers back to RESET. Some of the world’s best thought leaders will be joining us to inspire our industry, think big and push boundaries,” said Faulks.
The news was announced to the 130 CMOs and industry professionals at the Taking Flight event last night. MC duties were ably handled by former Network 10 journalist Natarsha Belling, while AANA partners, The Trade Desk, offset the event’s carbon emissions.
Guests were also treated to an performance by multiple ARIA award-nominated, singer-songwriter Ngaiire.
Josh Faulks, CEO AANA revealed ambitious plans and priorities for 2023 and a commitment that “AANA will be a loud and strong voice for advertisers and marketers in Australia”.
