Aussie comedian and DJ Merrick Watts’ has remade the classic Paul Hogan Tourism Australia ad as part of the current ‘Throw another steak on the barbie’ campaign by Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA).
The campaign attracted 50,000 petition supporters and more than 700,000 hits on YouTube in its first days – and has led to the follow-up spot.
The beef campaign, by BMF, calls to fight the “throw another shrimp on the barbie” Australian stereotype and “throw another steak on the barbie” instead.
Meat & Livestock Australia have now made a new ad to set the record straight about Australia – and is calling on Aussies to share the online video with friends and family overseas to correct the “shrimp on the barbie” misconception.
In its first few weeks, the campaign increased the fan base of ‘Nothing Beats Beef’ by 141%.
