Industry asked to lend some muscle in fight against rare disease

A rare genetic disease has seen the creative industry rally behind Host Sydney staffer Kaija Wall and his son Jai.

Jai has been diagnosed with the uncommon inherited disease Friedreich’s Ataxia which progressively damages the nervous system resulting in muscle weakness and tremors.

The condition, for which there is no cure, can also lead to heart disease and diabetes.

To raise awareness of the illness and to raise funds for research Wall’s co-workers at Host Sydney have formed a number of partnerships to create a new campaign.

The movement, dubbed ‘Lend Us Some Muscle’, is asking people to show their support on Facebook and to spread the word by striking a body builder pose.

Images from New York, the UK and locally have rushed in with more $18,200 raised so far.

Wall, broadcast production director at Host, thanked all those involved in creating the campaign.

Sydney creative agency Ilk, production agency The Feds and PR shop One Green Bean worked on the project along with other partners.
