Zuckerberg Plans $200 Billion Town To House Employees

Facebook’s mega-rich CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, has reportedly announced plans to build a new housing estate for 10,000 of his most loyal employees. The development already has the tentative eponymous name of ‘Zee town’ in honour of the 30-year-old’s last name.

And this ain’t some lameo caravan park in an industrial wasteland. Reports out today suggest the construction costs alone would come to $US200 billion, while the development itself would be built on prime waterfront land near Facebook’s Silicon Valley head office in San Francisco.

The development will include homes for 10,000 of Facebook’s most loyal employees and their families, and will reportedly include hotels, schools, hopping centres, recreation centres, and a focus on trees and nature.

Supposedly, world acclaimed architect Frank Gehry has already been enlisted to sketch-up the plans. Gehry’s work includes such phenomenal buildings as the Guggenheim Museum in Spain, the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles, the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris, and the just-opened ‘paper bag’ building at Sydney’s University of Technology.

As yet there is no information whether employees will have to buy into their own piece of social media nirvana or reside at substantially reduced rents. It’s also not clear what would happen to loyal employees who suddenly became disloyal and jumped ship to the enemy.

It is also highly doubtable that the great man himself would want to reside among the hoi pallois, preferring his $US10million pile in one of San Fran’s swankiest suburbs.

As yet no definite plans have been produced or any dates announced regarding the start of construction. One thing’s for sure, however, it’ll be the best town in the world for internet speed.
