Women in Media has announced the appointment of Anita Jacoby AM to the role of chair and Bridget Fair as deputy chair, as founding member and former co-chair Victoria Laurie steps away after nearly two decades.
Anita Jacoby AM is a television producer and media executive. Bridget Fair, chief executive officer of Free TV Australia, adds expertise in media and television to the board. Their appointments are effective immediately, each for a three-year term.
“I am honoured to chair Women in Media alongside our esteemed board. Our mission to empower women and drive gender equality has never been more critical. Through our innovative industry programs, we aim to elevate women’s leadership and amplify their voices across the industry,” said Jacoby.
“Supporting an equitable industry opens pathways for women and strengthens economic participation—both essential for Australia’s media landscape,” added Fair.
“I’m thrilled that the powerful leadership team of Anita and Bridget, and our impressive board members, will create new opportunities for this important community of women. Since the very beginning, our mission has been to empower and advocate for women across the broad landscape of Australia’s media sector. This remains a source of inspiration and passion that I will continue to support,” said Victoria Laurie, founder and former co-chair, Women in Media.
“On behalf of the Board, I acknowledge Victoria’s outstanding leadership and fortitude in building Women in Media into the organisation it is today. With more than 6,700 subscribers, her contributions have greatly strengthened Australia’s media landscape,” added Jacoby.
