2021’s a mere five weeks old and Will Ferrell has already delivered a serious contender for funniest ad of the year.
The actor and comic genius is fronting American carmaker GM’s effort for this year’s Super Bowl.
Consisting of a trio of spots, the ads are flogging the rather impressive looking new Cadillac Lyriq, GM’s concerted move into the electric car market.
In the spot, Ferrell implores American car buyers to switch to electric vehicles by comparing them to Norway where 54 per cent of new car sales are no longer petrol. Only four per cent of new car sales in the States are electric.
The ads are the work of McCann Worldgroup and is a continuation of GM’s “Everybody In” campaign that the car marque has been running as it aims to raise awareness for electric vehicles by plugging them as fun, clean and safe.
