Over the weekend, Aussies watched movies and docos, with many unwinding after a busy SXSW Sydney week. And of course, The Block drew Aussies in, with only one week left before the auction will be held on Saturday, 25 October, and the season finale aired the next day on Sunday, 26 October.
The Block won a Total TV National Reach of 2,998,000 and a Total TV National Average Audience of 1,775,000 for Nine on Sunday night.
Seven‘s The Rise and Fall of Kings Cross, a documentary exploring the multifaceted history of Sydney’s Kings Cross, brought in a Total TV National Reach of 1,210,000 and a Total TV National Average Audience of 436,000.
Nine aired the Pacific Championships, which saw the Kiwis fight back against Toa Samoa, who led 12-6 after 29 minutes when Blaize Talagi scored. By half-time, the Kiwis got their mojo back and went on to win 24-18, led in part by a superb display from Dylan Brown, who scored the match-winner.
Over on The Block, 12 long weeks have passed, and Blockheads had their final inspection of the front yards and facades, and the final room reveals. It also marked the series’ 1000th episode! There was lots going on, and Shelley Craft even showed up to her very first Sunday episode.
There were tears, hugs, and even a shoey to celebrate the end of the journey. Though they’re not there just yet!
While Han and Can’s 4 metre torii-inspired gate entrance received a lot of attention, it’s not the only oversized secret weapon on the street.
A massive kangaroo sculpture on Alicia and Sonny’s front yard drew mixed reactions from other Blockheads. Marty, one of The Block‘s judges, loved the sculpture, especially with how well its rust colour matches the brick façade.
The final scores saw Sonny and Alicia win with 38 points, Emma and Ben come in second with 37, Han and Can come in third place with 35.5, Robby and Mat take fourth place with 34.5 points, and Britt and Taz come in last place with 31 points.

On Saturday night, Aussies tapped into romance vibes, with many tuning in to the classic Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams film The Notebook, with Nine winning a Total TV National Reach of 1,199,000 and a Total TV National Average Audience of 290,000.
