The Block’s winning streak has been broken, with Lisa and Rosco claiming Main Bedroom and Walk-in Robe Week while Shaynna Blaze leaves one team reeling with a “high-end coffin” critique.
Nine’s The Block took the top spot in Sunday’s TV ratings, with a Total TV National Reach of 2,488,000 and a Total TV National Average Audience of 1,398,000.
The result came after a tense judging session, with Shaynna Blaze delivering one of the episode’s sharper critiques, describing one Courtney and Sev’s main bedroom as a “high-end coffin” whilst Chantel and Wyatt’s walk-in was labelled as “clinical”.
Sport also had a sizeable presence across the top 30, with Seven’s AFL coverage coming in fifth with a national reach of 1,399,000 and an average audience of 428,000. The Sydney Swans claimed the win over North Melbourne, in a 123-70 victory.
Nine’s NRL coverage was also featured in the top 10, landing in seventh with a national reach of 1,202,000 and an average audience of 553,000. The Sydney Roosters suffered a surprise 25-24 loss to the Wests Tigers, with captain James Tedesco notably absent from the side due to an ankle injury.
Cricket was another major drawcard, with five broadcasts from the second Test between Australia and Bangladesh appearing in the top 30. The highest-ranked was session 3, which had a national reach of 1,252,000 and an average audience of 238,000.
Bangladesh was bowled out for 64 in their first innings and then dismissed for 95 in their second, with Mitchell Starc taking 10 wickets across the match.
ABC’s Portrait Artist of the Year had a national reach of 951,000 and an average audience of 571,000. The latest episode saw media personality Kate Langbroek, astronaut Katherine Bennell-Pegg and country music artist Troy Cassar-Daley feature among the subjects for the competing artists.
Over on Ten, Gogglebox came in thirteenth with a national reach of 870,000 and an average audience of 528,000.
Seven’s Cricket coverage of the Second Test, day 1 session 3 had a national reach of 1,297,000 as Mitchell Starc tore through Bangladesh’s batting line-up. Five instalments of the Test made the top 30, while Saturday Night NRL Live on Nine featured the Dragons v Bulldogs showdown which reached 998,000, with the Bulldogs cruising to a 44-14 win.
Brisbane Lions put on a show against Collingwood at the MCG on Friday night, running away to a 63-point win, 159-96. Logan Morris booted a whopping eight goals. Seven’s AFL: Friday Night Football had a national reach of 1,885,000 and an average audience of 670,000.
Nine’s Tipping Point Australia edged The Chase Australia on reach, drawing in 1,279,000 compared to 1,193,000. Tipping Point also led on average audience with 695,000 while Seven’s rival format averaged 547,000.
