Aussie television icon Larry Emdur has given some interesting insights into the reality behind salary negotiations at Seven during David Leckie’s reign.
Edmur is promoting his memoir, Happy As. Naturally, he is doing the press rounds and spilling the tea on life as a television host and on his forty-year career at Seven.
Everyone is always curious about what our celebrities earn and how much networks pay their stars, and while Edmur did not reveal any numbers, his antidote was interesting enough.
The Daily Telegraph reported that Emdur explained that during a salary negotiation with former Seven chief David Leckie, who has now passed away.
Leckie gave it to Emdur straight; Edmur said: “At my last negotiation with David Leckie may he rest in peace, wherever he is, he said to me: ‘Emdur, you f–kwit.
“I have 100 people at this network who would walk over broken glass and eat s–t to do your job for free.”
Edmur has famously hosted Price Is Right for Nine. The Morning Show for Seven and is now hosting The Chase, a show that brings in big numbers for Seven, so perhaps eventually, he did get that pay rise.
