Atn CEO and iconic traffic reporter Vic Lorusso will report the traffic at Southern Cross Austereo’s (SCA) 2DayFM and Triple M Sydney after a 25-year stint with ARN’s Kiis.
The move comes days after ARN ended its $10 million contract with Lorusso’s company gtn, which is the parent company of the Australian Traffic Network.
ARN has decided to in-house traffic reporting, leaving the door open for SCA to recruit Lorusso’s services.
Lorusso has spent 26 years in the media, becoming the voice of traffic reports across Sydney.
Founded in Australia in 1997, gtn delivers traffic, weather, news, fuel and entertainment content to more than 91 million people each week across Australia, Brazil, Canada and the UK.
“Vic Lorusso is an absolute institution on Sydney radio, and we know how much his voice means to the city’s drivers. For a quarter of a century, Sydneysiders have relied on Vic’s unmatched knowledge and reassuring presence to navigate their daily commute,” SCA head of broadcast content Matthew O’Reilly said.
“He has a strong bond with the city and we are thrilled to give him a new home on 2DayFM and Triple M, ensuring his trusted expertise stays right where it belongs on Sydney’s airwaves.”
Reflecting on this next chapter, Lorusso said: “I am delighted to be joining the 2DayFM and Triple M breakfast teams. I grew up listening to these iconic Sydney stations, so I am thrilled to now be part of their on-air success.
“SCA and atn share a long-standing trusted partnership which I am immensely proud of. I am delighted to continue supporting the commuters of Sydney and reporting across atn’s network.”
