The Ashes series was drawn, but the Urn returns home to Australia. And in the spirit being good sports, Vegemite has sent a little gift of recognition to their Marmite friends over in the UK – the Mitey Ashes Urn, featuring the charred remains of a piece of Marmite on toast.
If you haven’t been keeping up with the spreads’ tit-for-tat war over the five Ashes Test, check out all the background here.
Matt Gray, Vegemite senior marketing manager said: “It was a Mitey battle and we kept the real Ashes, but hopefully the cremated piece of toast will adorn their mantle until we do battle again.”
A spokesperson for creative agency Thinkerbell added: “The other urn might be the oldest trophy in England and Australia’s cricketing history, but we think this urn could live on even longer.”
