VCCP Sydney has poached award winning creative Paul Sharp (left in featured image) from The Monkeys to take up the role of creative director.
The move sees Sharp reunited with ECD Gary Dawson (right in the featured image) after several years working independently. The two previously partnered together at Clemenger BBDO, then later at Leo Burnett’s.
Sharp a stalwart at The Monkeys for the last 5 years has seen their business go from strength to strength while playing a key role in their recent national Agency wins, including Campaign Brief, Adnews, Mumbrella and the Effies with his work for UBank, Bingle Car Insurance and most recently MLA’s most successful Australia Day campaign: Operation Boomerang.
Previous to this Sharp has worked in London agencies as well as in Australia at Clemenger, Publicis Mojo, DDB and Leo’s, producing award-winning work on a broad range of clients from Coke and Volkswagen to James Boag’s and Toyota.
Dawson said: “I’m delighted to bring Paul on board. He’s worked on some of Australia’s most iconic brands and has created loved and lauded work both here and in the UK. He has a unique and refreshing take on things, is a great thinker, craftsmen, and an all-round good bloke. As we continue to shape VCCP’s offering, his hiring demonstrates our intent to further build on our positioning as a challenger agency for challenger brands.”
Sharp added: “As much as I love Monkeys, I also have a soft spot for Meerkats. I’m looking forward to being part of the growing success of VCCP in the region, it certainly feels like a place that’s poised for opportunities, and, of course, it’ll be a pleasure to be working with Mr. Dawson again.”
