The ratings battle between The Block and The Voice heated up last night, with the two shows taking out the third and fourth places overall with a total TV national reach of 1,852,000 and 1,713,000, respectively.
In the sixth episode of the season, four standout stars wowed The Voice judges, locking in their place in the competition.
21-year-old Matthias Gault, inspired by his jazz violinist grandfather, had all four chairs turned with a rendition of The Killers’ anthem When You Were Young.
Judges Richard Marx and Mel C took this moment as a personal battle to prove their sway in the industry, both leveraging relationships with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin to encourage Gault to pick their team. Ultimately, Mel’s personalised video message from Martin got her over the line.
Over on The Block, a different kind of battle was ensuing.
Frustrated with being told that contestants need to come to Foreman Dan for significant structural changes, Han unleashed on Dan.
“I’m sorry but this is absolute horses**t,” she yelled at Dan. “You stood here with me and said good, great design, we’re done so this is just for the cameras. This is absolute bulls**t. It’s an absolute stitch up, Dan. I’m trying to do my best job.”
