Seven’s Thursday night AFL coverage dominated the last night’s ratings coming in third with a Total TV National Reach of 1,764,000 and a Total TV National Average Audience of 697,000.
Adelaide defeated Geelong by a single point, 75 to 74, in a match that had fans on the edge of their seats from the first bounce. The result ended Geelong’s six-game winning streak over the Crows, with Adelaide banking yet another tight win.
The victory came at a cost for the Crows. Callum Ah Chee and Jordon Butts were forced from the field with hamstring and calf injuries respectively, while debutant Hugo Hall-Kahan and Toby Murray were involved in a head clash in the final term. Play was stopped, both players were bleeding quite heavily.
Seven’s pre-game coverage also featured in the top 30, pulling a national reach of 596,000 and an average audience of 280,000.
Over on Nine, Tipping Point Australia, had a national reach of 1,517,000 and and average audience of 826,000 average audience, landing at number four overall. Seven’s The Chase Australia was close behind at number five with a national reach of 1,423,000 and an average audience of 766,000.
Nine’s Thursday Night NRL Live came in at seventh with a national reach 1,393,000 and an average audience of 609,000. The Manly Sea Eagles defeated South Sydney Rabbitohs in a 28-14 result that few would have predicted at the start of the season.
The win has lifted Manly into third spot on the ladder, a remarkable turnaround for a side that lost their opening three home matches and parted ways with coach Anthony Seibold as a result.
Interim coach Kieran Foran, has since been locked in for the next three years after winning over the club and its community. The KFC at Manly Vale has already put his face on its signage, and FozBall signs were being waved across the hill.
On the ABC, Restoration Australia had a national reach of 740,000 and an average audience of 428,000.
