Trying To Quit The Gaspers? Then These Cute Anti-Smoking Ads Are For You!

Here in Australia we use graphic images of cancerous lungs and tumour-ridden tongues to scare the crap out of smokers. However, a new cute campaign out of the US is using a pair of talking stop-gap puppet lungs that takes a less graphic route than ours.

The “Little Lungs in a Great Big World” campaign is for the US’s Food And Drug Administration Centre for Tobacco Products and uses a good splash of humour to warn smokers that if they take-up the nasty little habit in their teens then it could impair the growth and health of their lungs for the rest of their lives.

It’s the work of creative agency FCB New York and features a series of five ads that you can check out below.

Commenting on the work, FCB New York’s CCO, Ari Halper, told US industry site Adweek: “We wanted to create a content series with a character people could fall in love with and root for, even if doing so proved to be a lost cause.

“And while it wasn’t intentionally designed to spoof anything, one might say it was loosely inspired by the irreverent comedy of shows like Robot Chicken, and Kenny from South Park, which are notoriously loved by our teen target,” he said.
