A Tiktok user has reignited the CHEER cheese name debate by posting a TikTok calling out the brand for its recent name change.

TikTok user, bmwe12guy uploaded a video of himself putting his new CHEER cheese slices back into an old CHEER cheese container, with its original name Coon on the packaging.

The TikTok has racked up over 600,000 views.

The controversial cheese TikTok also featured writing and a voiceover that said, “fuck cancel culture.”

The brand owned by Saputo Dairy changed its name to CHEER in January this year.

Although the cheese was named after American cheese processor, Edward William Coon. The name change came because of the racist connotations associated with the word coon.
