The Daily Telegraph Presents The Ninth Annual Future Sydney: Bradfield Oration

Premier of New South Wales Dominic Perrottet and Opposition Leader Chris Minns have delivered their visions for Sydney at The Daily Telegraph’s ninth annual Bradfield Oration.

Bradfield Oration is The Daily Telegraph’s annual editorial campaign celebrating the legacy of Dr John Bradfield – the visionary Australian engineer who famously put Sydney on the global map when he designed and built the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

The 2022 Future Sydney: Bradfield Oration is proudly supported by Sydney Airport, Crown Sydney, John Holland, Aqualand, University of Sydney, Western Sydney University and Transurban.

The campaign seeks to further Bradfield’s legacy for this generation of Sydneysiders by inspiring business, political and community leaders to create a better future to maintain the city’s position as one of the world’s best.

The Daily Telegraph’s editor, Ben English said: ‘This year the nation backed a new leader and it is fitting that our PM born and bred right here in Sydney, Anthony Albanese, will outline his vision for the future of Sydney,” said English. “As he has tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday, his Oration will be delivered by Catherine King MP, Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development & Local Government.”

“With months to go before the state election we will also hear Premier Dominic Perrottet and Opposition Leader Chris Minns deliver their competing visions for Sydney.

“Some of our nation’s most dynamic business and thought leaders who call Sydney home will also debate how our city should navigate its future.

“I believe there is general agreement that our city is well positioned to take advantage of the huge changes that are impacting the world but also that many challenges lie ahead and we can’t take anything for granted.

The Daily Telegraph is committed to supporting this great city and its people as we have always done.”

In the Oration’s first year in 2014 Prime Minister Tony Abbott ended decades of debate by announcing a second airport at Badgerys Creek. Other key orators have been Hon Scott Morrison, Mike Baird, Lucy Turnbull and most recently Dominic Perrottet.
