Kate Toon (lead image), founder of The Clever Copywriting School and Australia’s only copywriting conference, CopyCon, has launched a new podcast for copywriters everywhere – Clever Copy Chats.
From juggling parental guilt as a copywriter and what it’s like as a neurodivergent copywriter, to the skills needed to scale from solopreneur to agency founder, in Clever Copy Chats Kate interviews Australia’s most experienced and eclectic copywriters, to get a tasty lick of their wisdom and nibble on their tricks of the trade.
Alternative solo episodes will feature Toon providing practical copywriting tips and advice, sharing her clever strategies on how to embrace your inner clever copywriter. From how to write tighter copy, to separating yourself from your copy when receiving client feedback, and how to create useful skeleton drafts.
No stranger to the podcasting mic, Toon’s other podcast series have achieved nearly one million downloads combined, and she’s excited to launch a new platform to showcase the amazing copywriters in her world.
While Toon acknowledges there are plenty of marketing and copywriting podcasts out there, she wanted to shine a light on the day-to-day realities of being a copywriter, bringing her inimitable wisdom and wit to Clever Copy Chats: “I wanted to create a podcast that gets back to the sticky, awkward, gloriousness of being a day-to-day copywriter,” Toon said.
“The woes, the ups, the bitty fist annoyance of a client who won’t use track changes, the tips on how to write 5,000 words in 20 minutes because you forgot the deadline, and of course, the real bottom warming stories of great clients and amazing writing that keeps us doing the do each day.”
Clever Copy Chats launched just days ago and has already been ranked in the top three Australian marketing podcasts. Kate Toon’s Recipe for SEO Success podcast has had more than 400,000 downloads to date.
Toon’s popular copywriting conference, CopyCon, will also return this year on 14 & 15 October, bringing hundreds of copywriters together in Sydney from around the country and the world, with delegates attending in person and virtually for the first time hybrid iteration of the event.
