Network Ten has gone back on its word that it would not be bringing Bachelor in Paradise Down Under, announcing that it has commissioned the series for 2018.

Ten rubbished speculation last month that it was set to bring the sister show to its reality TV guns The Bachelor Australia and The Bachelorette Australia to our shores.

Originally a US spin-off, Bachelor in Paradise features former Bachelor and Bachelorette contestants isolated in an exotic tropical destination with the goal of finding love with one another.

According to Ten, the new short-run series will feature former fan favourites and stand-out characters from previous seasons of The Bachelor Australia and The Bachelorette Australia.

New Idea claimed that Nikki Gogan, runner-up on the 2016 series of The Bachelor Australia, was seen filming a promotional campaign for the Aussie spin-off in Sydney, and that Fiji will be the location for the first season of Bachelor in Paradise.

Since these claims have surfaced, the names of a number of ex-Bachelor and Bachelorette contestants have been thrown around, including Zilda Williams, Leah Costa, Elora Mugar, Sasha Mielczarek, Sarah-Mae Louise Amey, Keira Maguire and Michael Turnbull.

Former Bachelor Blake Garvey has confirmed on social media that he won’t be featuring as one of the contestants on Bachelor in Paradise.

The Aussie series of The Bachelor in Paradise will be hosted by Osher Günsberg from The Bachelor Australia and The Bachelorette Australia.

Ten’s chief content officer, Beverley McGarvey, said: “The Bachelor Australia and The Bachelorette Australia are proven success stories on all screens and the most talked about television shows in Australia.

Bachelor In Paradise is the perfect complement to, and extension of, those shows. It will give viewers everything they love about The Bachelor Australia and The Bachelorette Australia, including familiar faces, spectacular dates, explosive rose ceremonies, drama, romance, adventure, laughter and of course, love.”
