Ten and its affiliate network, WIN Television, have secured the rights to broadcast the first in-depth TV interview with Donald Trump since he won the US presidential election.
Originally aired on CBS’ 60 Minutes in the States yesterday morning Australia time, the interview takes place at Trump’s Fifth Avenue home in New York City where CBS journalist Lesley Stahl speaks to Trump, as well as his wife Melania (the First Lady-elect) and children Ivanka, Eric and Donald Jr.
Despite crediting his controversial use of Twitter to help drive his campaign to the White House, Trump promised in the interview to be “very restrained” in using the social media platform from now on.
“It’s where it’s at… I do believe this, I really believe that the fact that I have such power in terms of numbers with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, et cetera – I think it helped me win all of these races where they’re spending much more money than I spent,” he said.
According to CBS, Trump also dismissed his opponent’s use of their campaign cash to advertise in more traditional ways, saying that “social media has more power than the money they spent, and I think maybe to a certain extent, I proved that”.
Trump. The First Interview. A Project Special goes to air in Australia tonight at 7.30pm.
