Wavemaker strategy director Summer Treseder has made an internal move within WPP Media, joining EssenceMediacom as its new group strategy director.
Treseder joined Wavemaker as associate strategy director in January 2025, before being promoted to strategy director just six months later in July.
In the role, Treseder was recognised at the 2025 B&T Women in Media Awards, taking home the Strategy award.
B&T understands the move is an internal transfer within WPP Media, with the company confirming Treseder’s appointment.
“We love seeing our people explore new opportunities across our business, building their careers with new skills and new experiences,” a WPP Media spokesperson said.
“It perfectly reflects the limitless opportunities for growth, learning and progression within WPP Media.”

Treseder has also been active in developing the next generation of strategy talent across the business. Just two months into her Wavemaker role, she began mentoring junior strategists at WPP.
Her industry involvement has extended beyond her agency role, with Treseder serving as an NGEN Bootcamp mentor and judge for two consecutive years, as well as creating and presenting Young Lions and NGEN workshops.
She has also picked up multiple industry accolades, including becoming the first person to win the Young Lions competition twice.
During her time at Wavemaker, Treseder worked across a number of high-profile client and industry initiatives. And in her previous role at IPG Media she helped Initiative win the IAG account.
She also led strategy and planning for Goodman Fielder’s first sustainability campaign and helped drive the launch of the industry’s ‘Forgotten Upfronts’.
Before joining Wavemaker, Treseder was involved in the Cairns Hatchlings competition, where she was named a finalist and competitor in the media category.
Last year, she was also the winner of WPP Media APAC’s Limitless Pitch.
